Maintenance Worker Major Duties:

  • Asist higher grade maintenance worker in performance of their work.

  • Does routine maintenance and repair on grounds, buildings, and equipment.

  • Does minor carpentry and painting.

  • Repair minor plumbing such unclogging lines and toilets.

  • Operates vehicles and equipment, bobcat loaders, forklifts and trailers, and other equipment to load and unload materials and/or other general maintenance.

  • Cleans visitor center, entrance stations, campgrounds, and day use area.

  • Safely use proper chemicals to clean toilets and disinfect restrooms chemical restrooms, and visitor facilities.

  • Remove litter and recyclables from park grounds.

  • Control weeds and brush around picnic tables and restrooms, sweep walks and clean fire rings.

Key Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

  • Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement.

  • You will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.

  • You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.

  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and/or shift work.

  • Valid State drivers license

Receive TWINRIX Combined Hepatitis A and B Vaccinations to perform the duties of cleaning & servicing toilets. Park will cover cost of vaccinations.

Evaluations: Applicants will not be rated or ranked. All applicants that meet the basic eligibility and minimum qualification requirements of the position will be referred to the selecting official in preference eligible order.

Qualifications: All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement (unless otherwise stated in this bulletin).Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). Quality Ranking Factors: Knowledge of simple and common trade practices.Ability to make simple measurements using tape measure and squareAbility to use simple hand tools such as hammer, screw drivers, brush and roller, wrench electric drill/saw in a safe and acceptable manner.Ability to operate light vehicles and equipment such as pick up and forklift. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors.   • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to coated, or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray and fumes are present. Also required to work in inclement weather and /or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable
