Release Date: November 13, 2013 Visitors to Joshua Tree National Park may notice work being done along Pinto Basin Road. A contractor will be working with park staff to return 800 plants to the Cholla Cactus Garden. Work started in late October, 2013 and could continue through mid-January, 2014. These plants were originally salvaged and transplanted elsewhere in the park to accommodate a road project that ended in August, 2013. Park biologists expect a 75 to 85 percent survival rate. Pinto Basin Road will remain open during this transplanting work and only minor delays can be expected. Visitors are asked to use caution when traveling this section of road.
