The Life of John F. Kennedy

John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Brother to: Eight siblings, five sisters and three brothers
Role-model, kind, athletic, wise, determined, courageous, competitive, risk-taker, athletic, helpful, hardworking, leader, intelligent, friendly, incredible
He felt strongly about: his Irish heritage and family ties, playing football and swimming, learning and becoming president, being a great commander and serving his country, staying informed, and making the world a better place
He worked hard to: meet his parents’ expectations, help others, win, get better at swimming, compete with his brother Joe, save his crew, get help and not leave anyone behind, write Profiles in Courage even when he was ill, become president, make peace, stop segregation, send a man to the moon
He imagined a world where: there is peace and freedom, all people are happy and everyone is free, people are healthy and everyone who needed could go to a doctor, we learn to try new things and the USA is strong, there is respect and equal rights for all
JFK teaches us the importance of: making mistakes and learning from them, believing in ourselves, never giving up, intelligence, confidence, bravery, helping others, having fun playing sports, perseverance, taking charge and taking risks, helping people in need, being a role model, strong leadership, taking care of our country
Jack

The Kennedy Way

Mischievous, late
Close with his siblings, messy
Went to church often

Determined young lad
Athletic in every way
Cared for his people

A lot of back pain
Very sick throughout his life
He never gave up

Jack is a sailor
Sailing in the sea so nice
The sea is calm, cool

Jack’s boat was destroyed
Two sailors did not make it
Saved the rest of crew

Jack was very kind
He created the Peace Corps
Helped people in need

Never Give Up!

Jack was as determined as a lion chasing its next meal,
As smart as a dolphin looking in a mirror,
And as kind as a cat purring.
In his family, there was no second place, second place wasn’t good enough.
Jack taught us that you should never give up and if you lose, keep trying

Jack was as fragile as a glass cup
He was very sick as a child and probably
Missed-out on things that he wanted to do
Even when he was sick, Jack did not give up

Jack was as competitive as an eagle stalking its prey
He had five sisters and three brothers who were at his side
For the hard challenges to come
Jack didn’t give up, even when things were scary or difficult

Jack was as brave as an ant standing-up to an elephant
He was a skilled sailor and didn’t panic when his PT boat was destroyed
Jack didn’t back down and stood up to bullies

Jack was as kind as a friendly old man
When Cuba had missiles, he asked them to “stand-down”
Jack showed us you can be kind but firm

Jack was super-focused as if trying to win a staring contest
He wanted what was best for his family and nation
Jack taught us not to give-up and to always give-back
