Eunice, LA.: The National Park Service is pleased to announce the start date for the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center roof project.
"We are elated to be in the final stages of completing this project," said Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve Superintendent Charles Hunt. "Reopening the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is important to both the National Park Service and to the community of Eunice, and we are looking forward to working with the local community to once again share the culture, food and music of southern Louisiana with visitors from all over the globe."
Work is set to begin the week of June 17th, 2024, and is expected to take roughly 150 days. The Center will remain temporarily closed during the project. Work will include the complete replacement of the building's flat roof and numerous indoor repairs to address the water damage caused by the damaged roof. Once the work is completed, the building will be cleaned to ensure the safety of visitors and staff. Announcements regarding project updates and the reopening of the Center will be made on the park website and our social media channels.
The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is managed by the National Park Service as part of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The center features exhibits and programs on the history and cultures of south Louisiana. Admission to the center and for most center programs is free. Group tours are available by reservation. Call the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center at 337-457-8499 or see our website.
