The Professional Artist-in-Residence Program
Each summer, this program provides professional writers, composers, and visual and performing artists the opportunity to become part of a long-established tradition of interpreting national parks through. During a 2 - 3 week residency, this immersion provides time for artists to explore to the many moods that only a north woods wilderness can provide.
Eligibility
The Isle Royale Artist-in-Residence program is for established, professional artists working in a defined medium that can be explored through the lens of an island wilderness.
Program Requirements
Selected artists will be park volunteers.
Selected artists must donate a piece of artwork representative of their stay on Isle Royale within one year of their experience. The donated piece will offer the public an opportunity to experience our national heritage through the artist's unique interpretation of Isle Royale.
Selected artists may present one public program. The presentation will depend on the artists' medium, interests, experience, and the ability of rangers in Rock Harbor to assist. Low-tech is better.
