View the Perseid meteor shower the evening of August 11, 2018 at the Homestead National
Monument of America’s Heritage Center! The Heritage Center gates will be open all night
between the 11 th and 12 th allowing visitors into the parking lot to view the Perseid Meteor shower
on one of the celestial event’s peak evenings. Some projections predict up to 100 visible meteors
The Perseid meteor shower lasts from July 17 th until August 24 th , and it is believed that the
meteors originate from the Perseus constellation. The Perseid meteor shower happens yearly and
is best viewed in the Northern Hemisphere, so Homestead National Monument of America is the
perfect place to view the wonders of this astronomical event! When viewing any astronomical
event at night it is often helpful to get away from strong sources of light pollution, like the glow
our towns and cities give off, and with the Heritage Center sitting 4 miles outside of Beatrice we
couldn’t think of a better place to view this spectacle of nature.
Remember, Homestead National Monument of America has an exciting schedule of events
planned for 2018. Keep up with the latest information by following us on Twitter
