Beatrice, Nebraska – Celebrate winter traditions at Homestead National Monument of America with the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers. On Sunday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m. the Lindsborg, Kansas group, consisting of 15 dancers and five violins will be performing at the Education Center.

The Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers will perform traditional Swedish folk dances to live music, in authentic costumes. The high school students that compose the group are committed to preserving the cultural traditions brought to the United States by Swedish immigrants. Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of Homestead there will be a cookies and hot chocolate reception following the 45 minute performance. “We are so excited to welcome the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers whom are renowned throughout the region”, said, Homestead National Monument of America Superintendent Mark Engler.
The Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers are the 2nd special program of the Winter Festival of Prairie Cultures. The Winter Festival of Prairie Cultures features decorated trees and tabletop displays featuring ornaments and hand-made crafts that reflect the spirit of hope, humor, traditions, and generosity, which characterized winter celebrations in the West. These displays are available for viewing now and will continue to be on display until January 5, 2020.
