It's Baseball!  Homestead National Historical Park Kicks Off Summer Campfire Series on Sunday, July 4th, at 7 pm

Beatrice, Nebraska – Summer Campfire programs are back at Homestead National Historical Park! Join Park Historian Jonathan Fairchild on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at 7:00 pm, as he presents American As Apple Pie: Baseball and the Homestead Act.  This program will delve into the important role baseball played in homesteading communities and homesteading social networks. Music by Paul Siebert will follow the talk. Siebert’s musical set will use multiple instruments and will explore American musical traditions from the 1870s.

This campfire program will be held at the fire pit behind the Education Center. Folding chairs will be available to guests, but we welcome lawn chairs and blankets as well. Insect repellant and water are highly recommended. This event is made possible by the generosity of The Friends of Homestead and Humanities Nebraska. Admission to Homestead National Historical Park and all events are free.

“Come learn how America’s favorite pastime played and the important role the sport played in homesteading communities,” stated Mark Engler, Superintendent.
