Get stranded on Mars with the next film in Homestead National Monument of America’s annual film festival! The Martian (PG13) starring Matt Damon, will be shown on Saturday, February 2, and Sunday, February 3, at 2:00 pm in the Homestead National Monument of America Education Center. This event is free!
The Martian takes a fictional look at the potential future of space exploration. A mission to Mars in 2035 goes awry and an astronaut thought to have perished is left stranded on Mars. The astronaut utilizes his resources to survive as his crew devises a plan to rescue him. This film not only explores themes related to the legacy of the Apollo program, but also presents a look at what homesteading might look like on Mars in the not-so-distant future.
Join us for the “Innovation: Transportation during the Homestead Era Film Festival,” Saturdays and Sundays in January, February, and early March, at 2:00 p.m., in the Homestead Education Center. This year features films that explore the Transcontinental Railroad and the Apollo Space program.
