Celebrate National Park Week at Homestead National Monument of America April 20-28! Kick off the week on Saturday, April 20 with American Spring LIVE at the Homestead Education Center from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. American Spring LIVE marks the coming of spring through interactive citizen science projects, crafts, booths, and more! This event is free and open to all ages.
 
Throughout the week visitors can earn two different Junior Ranger badges at Homestead National Monument of America; the Midwest Archeological Center badge as well as the Homestead National Monument of America badge. The monument even has a Not-So-Junior-Ranger badge for young-at-heart visitors!
 
Homestead National Monument of America will also unveil new “selfie-spots” during National Park Week, marking great places for visitors to get that Instagram-perfect selfie. Come out and picture yourself in a National Monument!
 
Closing out National Park Week on Sunday, April 28 will be an interactive workshop with Homestead National Monument of America Artist-in-Residence Cara Calvert-Thomas. At 2 p.m. in the Homestead Education Center, Cara will lead a multi-media workshop in which visitors will create their own piece of art to take home with them. This program is free and open to all ages.
 
“National Park Week is a great time to celebrate all that the National Park Service has to offer,” said Superintendent Mark Engler. “We invite everyone to come out to the monument and celebrate with us.”

Homestead National Monument of America is a unit of the National Park Service located four miles west of Beatrice, Nebraska and 45 miles south of Lincoln. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free of charge.
