BEATRICE, Neb. – Attention kids of all ages! Come out to the Education Center at Homestead National Historical Park on Saturday, January 13 at 10 a.m. and join us in a ranger-led activity as we learn what critters call the prairie home in the wintertime and solve the mystery of where they go when it’s cold and snowy. Then join us as we create a woodland critter with a bead craft project to take home. Participants will earn a Junior Ranger badge, and of course, the event is FREE!When it’s cold and snowy outside, people like to hide indoors by the fire, maybe with a bowl of popcorn and some hot cocoa. Some animals migrate to warmer areas, or maybe hibernate. Others enjoy the cold and snow! But if they stay around and stay active, where do they go? Can we see them by simply walking around the park? Weather permitting, participants will walk a short distance on the trail to spot tracks, while learning about habitats and diet. We hope to be outside, so come dressed for the weather!
