BEATRICE, Neb. – Join staff at Homestead National Historical Park’s Education Center on June 7 and/or June 8 at 8 a.m. for a ranger-led bird walk. All ages and abilities are welcome. During the walk, which will take about two hours and cover about a mile of trail, participants will work together with the ranger to find and identify as many of the songsters as possible.
According to ebird.org, 175 different species have been identified at the park. Last June during the walk 25 species were observed – with your help we can even find more!
It is often cool and a little damp at 8 a.m. so be sure to dress for the weather. Binoculars are very helpful when trying to see the details of the birds; you are encouraged to bring your own. The park does have a couple of pair of binoculars you can borrow if needed.

Homestead National Historical Park is a unit of the National Park Service, located four miles west of Beatrice, NE. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Trails are open daily from dawn to dusk, and admission is free!
