BEATRICE, Neb. – Do you enjoy Genealogy? Do you want to learn about your family history? Join Homestead National Historical Park to learn about the ins and outs of genealogy on Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Education Center. Park Guide Tanner Christy will go over the basics of how to start in your genealogy journey. This free ranger-led program will look at the many resources available to research your family and how to use them effectively to put your family story together.
At Homestead National Historical Park, we use genealogy to tell the story of the Homestead Act of 1862 The park provides the public access to Fold3.com, Ancestry.com, and the Government Land Office records from the Bureau of Land Management on the public research computers.
Homestead National Historical Park is a unit of the National Park Service, located four miles west of Beatrice, NE. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Trails are open daily from dawn to dusk, and admission is free!
