Kids in Parks: Homestead National Historical Park… It’s a Hoot!

BEATRICE, Neb. – Attention kids of all ages! Come out to Homestead National Historical Park on Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. and join us in a ranger-led activity as we look at owl pellets. These are the things the owl leaves behind after having a meal, so who knows what you may find as you look inside. And of course, the event is FREE! Come dressed for the weather. Sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended.

Owls and other birds of prey call Homestead National Historical Park and the surrounding area home. Many of them are nocturnal, meaning they are active at night and nesting during the day. We usually don’t get to see them unless we’re here very early or very late, so how would we know what they like to eat, and where they go? By looking at these signs of wildlife, participants will learn more about this mysterious bird of prey.

For more information on available accommodations please contact Accessibility Coordinator, Amber Kirkendall at (402) 223-3514.
