BEATRICE, Neb. – Attention kids of all ages! Come out to the Education Center at Homestead National Historical Park on Saturday, February 10 at 10 a.m. and join us in a ranger-led activity as we discover the many bird species that call the prairie and woodland home in the wintertime. Then join us as we create a bird or woodland critter with a bead craft project to take home. Participants will earn a Junior Ranger badge, and of course, the event is FREE!
When it’s getting cold during the fall season, summer birds seem to vanish overnight. They head south where the weather is warmer, but do all of them leave? And if they don’t leave, where do they live? What do they eat? Let’s take a hike, weather permitting, through the prairie and into the woodland and see how many feathered friends we see. We hope to be outside, so come dressed for the weather!
