Okaloosa Day Use Area

 
Okaloosa is located between Destin and Fort Walton, Florida. Because of its distance from other Gulf Islands locations, it is typically less crowded, but still provides ample beach access, parking, and other facilities. There is no entrance station, but visitors should pay their fee using the collection box near the boat ramp, or buy a park pass online.

Year-round: 8 a.m. to Sunset

Overnight parking is not permitted year-round.

Directions

From Pensacola: Follow Hwy. 98 across the Pensacola Bay Bridge and through Gulf Breeze. Stay on Hwy. 98 for 38.1 miles the Okaloosa Area is located on the left side of the highway.

From Destin: Follow Hwy. 98 west onto Okaloosa Island for 3.5 miles, the Okaloosa Area is located on the right side of the highway.

Plan Your Visit

  • Entrance fee required. Credit card only.
  • Bring your own supplies. There are no concessions or stores in this area.
  • Parking is only permitted in designated spaces.
  • Pets are not allowed in this area.
  • The only area of the park where kite surfing is allowed. It is prohibited from April 1 through September 1.
