GULF BREEZE, Fla. -- Gulf Islands National Seashore will reopen all areas for day use beginning Wednesday, August 18 at 5:00 a.m.

The Fort Pickens Campground will reopen Thursday, August 19.

The seashore closed August 14 in response to Tropical Storm Fred. The storm resulted in flooding of roads and parking lots due to over wash, and movement of sand onto the roadways making it unsafe for traveling. Visitor should be cautious as there is still standing saltwater and sand in the Fort Pickens Area and Opal Beach Complex.
