OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. -- Gulf Islands National Seashore will reopen park managed facilities to include Fort Massachusetts, restrooms, pavilions, boardwalk, and pier on Ship Island Saturday, March 5, 2022.Commercial concessions will also resume on the island. This includes ferry transportation, snack bar, and umbrella and chair rentals on the Gulf side. Ship Island Excursions will begin ferry services for the 2022 season operating Wednesday through Sunday. For ticket prices, schedules, and other information visit www.msshipisland.com.
Fort Massachusetts will be open from March through October. Programs will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Additionally, National Park Service rangers will be onboard ferries to provide information.
Access to Ship Island was closed on Oct. 26, 2020, in preparation for Tropical Storm Zeta. The damage to Ship Island following the storm resulted in long-term closures to the dock, pier, boardwalk, restrooms, pavilions, snack bar, and Fort Massachusetts for 17-months.
