Ocean Springs, Miss. – Contractors for the National Park Service completed the removal and replacement of the Davis Bayou boat ramp and the facility has been reopened to the public today. The boat ramp and finger piers were closed on August 2 for the replacement project. The replacement project completely removed and replaced the concrete boat ramp slab, as well as, the finger piers associated with the boat ramp.

The boat ramp was built during the Magnolia State Park era before the national seashore was established. It is a popular departure point for boaters in the area and was recently made free for use. “We’re excited to reopen the Davis Bayou boat ramp for our visitors and the local community’s use,” said Superintendent Dan Brown. “The many significant infrastructure improvements accomplished in the Davis Bayou Area recently ensure that all will have a safe and enjoyable visit to the national seashore.” Recent projects have included the reconstruction of the Davis Bayou Fishing Pier, roofing work on the picnic pavilions, and the replacement of the bulkhead near the boat ramp.
