Law enforcement-involved shooting at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

PAGE, Ariz. – On May 3, at approximately 8:00 pm, an officer-involved shooting occurred on Highway 89 near the junction to the Lone Rock Beach Campground road in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. There are no active threats to the public.
 
NPS law enforcement rangers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 89 following an alert issued by the Kane County Sherriff’s Office for a potentially dangerous suspect. During an attempt to stop the subject, the subject drove their vehicle into the patrol vehicle and rangers subsequently discharged their firearms. No rangers were seriously injured in the incident. The subject was treated at the Page Hospital and released with non-critical injuries. The subject is currently in custody.
 
The NPS, Kane County, and FBI are working a joint investigation into the incident. No additional information is available at this time.
