Saturday ranger- led wildflower walks continue this weekend at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. The walks will continue each Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. until the wildflower bloom ends. The walks depart from the Monument visitor center. Names, fun facts, and other facets of the variety of flowers that are currently in bloom will be discussed.

The first wildflower walk of the season, Saturday July 18, was a great success. The walk coincided with the July National Parks Fee- Free Weekend. The relaxing and easy walks on Monument trails will vary each week, however, as different flowers come into bloom.

Morning is an excellent time to visit Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Temperatures are cooler, the chance of thunderstorms is much lower than the afternoon, and the chance of seeing wildlife is greater.

The entrance fee for Fossil Beds National Monument is $3.00 per adult, and children under age 16 are free. America the Beautiful passes, including the Annual Pass, Senior Pass, Access Pass, and Local Pass, will cover entrance fees for the pass holder plus three adults. These passes are available for purchase at the monument visitor center. Visit the monument website at www.nps.gov/flfo or call 719- 748- 3253 for more information.
