Florissant Fossil Beds, Colorado Springs' closest national park unit, is offering a variety of new ranger guided programs for the public for the summer of 2014.

 Yoga Hikes

Join Ranger Denise Ackart for 1.5 hour long yoga hikes every Wednesday and Saturday morning through August at 9:00AM. Meet at the visitor center. Bring water, comfortable clothes, and shoes with flexible soles.  For more information: https://www.nps.gov/flfo/parknews/yoga-hikes.htm

Astronomy Programs

Join Ranger Leo Sack and see the night sky the way it used to look before city lights crowded out the stars. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument offers an ideal balance between convenient location – an easy drive from Colorado Springs– and a sky dark enough to reveal the countless stars that once lit the night for our ancestors.

Saturday, July 19, 2014 – 8:30PM – 10:30PM

Friday, August 22, 2104 – 8:00PM – 10:00PM

Friday, September 12, 2014 – 7:30PM – 9:30 PM

Wildflower Walks

Join Ranger Shawn and learn about the colorful world of wildflowers. Programs take place every Sunday through August 31, 2014.  Meet at the visitor center at 9:00AM.  Bring water, snacks, and layered clothing.

The new activities are in addition to the daily programs offered throughout the summer. Please call the Monument for more information about the daily programs at (719) 748 – 3253.

Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is open 8AM to 6PM daily. The entrance fee for the park is $3.00 per adult (16 years or older) or free with one of the many federal land passes.

For more information please call the Monument at (719) 748 – 3253 ext. 122 or 202 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/flfo.
