The word Florissant comes from a French word that means, “flowering, blooming, or flourishing.” Florissant Fossil Beds lives up to this name by flourishing with flowers and fossils. Come join the rangers for a fun-filled, family outing on Junior Ranger Day, Saturday, August 1, 2009. Junior Ranger Day is a chance for children to earn badges and patches and become Junior Rangers and help take care of our national parks – our Nation’s treasures. Through a variety of hands-on activities children will learn about fossils, flowers, and fauna. Throughout the day, children complete fun, engaging games in their Junior Ranger books, go on hikes, see the park film and exhibits, and explore the park. These activities will run from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Bring the whole family to enjoy a day in mountains. The fee is $3.00 per adult (16 yrs or older), and anyone 15 or under is free. While many activities are geared towards families, there are always plenty of activities to do for adults such as hiking, exhibits, the park film, and short, self-guided nature trails. Questions? Call Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument for more details at 719-748-3253. |
