Mountain flowers, meadow flowers, forest flowers, cactus flowers, even “weed” flowers. Florissant, which is French for blooming and flourishing, has them all and more. Beginning July 18th, join a ranger at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument on any Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. through the summer, for a guided walk to see and hear about some of our many flowers. Learn names and some fun facts about the many varieties that bloom throughout the summer. These relaxing and easy walks on the trails of the Monument should vary each week as different flowers come into season. There is no fee for the walks beyond the usual entrance fees for the Monument. Reservations are not needed to join the flower walks.

Meet the ranger at the visitor center. To reach Florissant Fossil Beds travel 35 miles west of Colorado Springs on US Hwy 24 to the town of Florissant. Turn left onto Teller County #1. The visitor center is 2 miles south of Florissant.

The entrance fee for Fossil Beds National Monument is just $3.00 per adult, and children under age 16 are free. An annual pass for Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is available for $15. For more information, visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/flfo or call 719-748-3253.
