Looking for some more light during this darker time of year? Come celebrate the Winter Solstice a few days early by safely observing and learning about our sun. Join members of the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument staff as we view the biggest part of our Solar System.Viewing will take place between 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the back porch of the visitor center on Saturday, December 19.

This is a unique opportunity to investigate our Sun with special optical equipment. This "star stare" is part of an ongoing series of astronomy programs that are offered at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. These programs are generously assisted by the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society. For more information on this partnership, please visit their website: www.csastro.org .

Admission for the program is the regular park entrance fee, which is $5 per adult (16 years and older);children and federal pass holders are free. For additional information, please call (719) 748-3253 or visit our website: www.nps.gov/flfo or on Facebook at /FlorissantNPS
