News Release Date: September 30, 2016 Homestead, FL: The Anhinga Trail remains temporarily closed to visitors and is expected to reopen by late October 2016. In April 2016, Everglades National Park began an exciting project to rebuild the very popular Anhinga Trail to perform corrective maintenance and increase accessibility. An effort was made to keep as much of the trail open and accessible to the public as possible during this renovation, but it was recently closed in its entirety to safely undertake repaving. It will remain closed until repaving is completed. The adjacent Gumbo Limbo Trail is open for visitors, and nearby public restrooms also will remain open. Updates on the Anhinga Trail, Gumbo Limbo Trail and Royal Palm can be found on the park’s website. On Everglades National Park - www.nps.gov/ever -- click on Alerts for updates. -EVER- |
