Homestead, Florida: Everglades National Park invites the public to participate in a Public Information Meeting on the Federal Highway Administration Adoption of the National Park Service's Tamiami Trail Modifications: Next Steps Final Environmental Impact Statement will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with information regarding FHWA’s procedure and reason for adopting the NPS Final EIS. During this open forum format meeting representatives of FHWA and the NPS will be available to informally discuss specific issues and answer questions regarding FHWA’s intent to adopt the Final EIS. All interested citizens, groups and businesses are invited to attend the public information meeting.
What:
In cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS), the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration intends to adopt the NPS Final Environmental Impact Statement titled Tamiami Trail Modifications: Next Steps (Final EIS).
In order to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements associated with the use of U.S. Department of Transportation funds for this action and possible involvement of FHWA in implementation of the project, the FHWA would issue a NEPA decision document based on the adopted Final EIS. Critical components of meeting the requirements of NEPA include soliciting public input and consideration of such input in the decision-making process.
