Park Hosts End of Season New Moon Star Party !

On Saturday, March 12, at 9:00 pm, Everglades National Park will host a New Moon Star Party event. The park is a perfect spot for viewing the wonders of the night sky due to its location away from the lights of the local communities.

Weather permitting; telescopes will be available for viewing the celestial night sky and will provide an opportunity for visitors to see for themselves what is visible in the world above us. A Ranger guided program about the constellations and the night sky will be available. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather.

Don't miss this opportunity to explore the mysteries of the night sky with Ranger Cerisa Swanberg as she explains visible constellations and objects. She will also discuss aspects of cultural history and current debates in astronomy. Astronomers from the Southern Cross Astronomical Society will also be on site with telescopes for visitors to get a closer look at celestial objects!

The public is welcome. No advance reservations are necessary. Since bright headlights impair night vision, we ask that all participants arrive no later than 9:00 pm. The event will be held at Mahogany Hammock, 20 miles from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center.
