The paintings of Linda Apriletti are now on display at the at the Ernest Coe Visitor Center Gallery in Everglades National Park. The exhibit will continue through the end of March 2010.

The paintings in this exhibit, made over the past 18 months and two dry seasons, were painted primarily plein air (outside in the "open air") in the southern section of Everglades National Park. They are an exploration of the various ecosystems within the Everglades including the pinelands, vast sawgrass marshes, cypress prairies, coastal prairies, mangrove transition zones and shallow lakes seen when heading down the main park road to Flamingo.

Aprilettie says, "My goal as an artist is to communicate the uncommon beauty found in nature. I believe the best way to convey the authentic environment and the atmosphere of a moment in a painting is to paint it from life. I want to show people that the Everglades is much more than the blue sky and brown ground that they see when zipping down the road at 60 mph."

Linda, a resident and native of Miami Springs, Florida, is a member of Oil Painters of America and Plein Air Florida. She exhibits regularly and her paintings hang in numerous private collections in the US and abroad. Primarily a self-taught artist, Linda's art education includes workshops with nationally recognized plein air painters William Scott Jennings, Larry Moore and Jay Moore. Linda is an avid outdoorswoman and draws upon her time outdoors to provide the inspiration for her landscape paintings. Although the majority of Linda's painting is done on location en plein air, she also works in her studio creating larger paintings from her outdoor field studies.
