Deerlodge Road to Undergo $5.6 Million in Improvements

Dinosaur, Colorado –A $5.6 million construction project to improve the road to Deerlodge Park within Dinosaur National Monument will begin on June 23, 2016.


The project includes reconstruction and repaving of 12.6 miles of roadway and adjacent parking areas. Drainage structures and culvert replacements are also included. 

Construction may occur up to seven days per week, but will not occur on designated holidays. During the project, the speed limit on the road will be lowered from 45 mph to 25 mph. Flaggers will be present during work hours and visitors may experience delays of up to 15 minutes. During non-construction hours, a temporary automated traffic light will be in place. The project is schedule to be completed by September 26, 2016. 

Deerlodge Road provides access to Deerlodge Park Campground and the river launch for rafting trips on the Yampa River.
