In September 2014, National Park Service units with fee collection programs were authorized to begin the civic engagement process associated with increasing entrance fees. Devils Tower National Monument is announcing a proposal to increase entrance fees, and the fee for campsites at the Belle Fourche River Campground. Eighty percent of fees collected stay in the monument for critical visitor related projects and services. The other twenty percent are distributed to other national parks that do not collect fees. Devils Tower current entrance fees have been in place since 2008. If approved, the proposed entrance fees would become effective January 1, 2017.

"We understand that no one likes fee increases, but this fee revenue is critical in funding visitor services, resource protection, public safety, projects and facility improvement. We ask for the public's support in taking this step in preserving a quality visitor experience at Devils Tower," said Superintendent Tim Reid. "Devils Tower National Monument is a strong economic engine for the surrounding area. In 2015, more than 478,830 park visitors contributed $29,889,500 in communities near the park and supported 477 jobs related to tourism".
