Denali to Host Subsistence Resource Commission Teleconference on October 25, 2017

The Denali National Park and Preserve Subsistence Resource Commission (SRC) will meet via teleconference on October 25, 2017. The meeting was announced in the Federal Register on September 26, 2017. The meeting was changed to the alternative date ensure a quorum.

 

Commission business will consider a range of issues including an opportunity for the SRC to determine appropriate written authority for the superintendent to set conditions, limits and other restrictions on the collections of non-edible wildlife parts (horns and antlers) to National Park Service qualified subsistence users. Read the Federal Register Notice for Alaska Subsistence Collections Rule.


 

During this teleconference, the SRC will also comment on the Denali Federal Subsistence wildlife proposals.

 

Key Denali National Park SRC FSB Wildlife Proposals:

  • WP 18-14 Extend wolverine hunting and trapping season by 28 days (GMU 11 and 13)
  • WP 18-18 Extend moose season – add 191 days (GMU 13)
  • WP 18-19 Revise federal registration permit (GMU 13)
  • WP 18-51 Modify baiting restrictions align with state regulations (Statewide)
