Fire Management staff at Denali National Park and Preserve will attempt to burn debris consisting of trees and brush between February 19 – March 24, if weather conditions allow. The piles are located east of the park airstrip and west of the northernmost loop of the Riley Creek Campground, and in the gravel pit at mile 5 of the Denali Park Road.
The material to be burned is from fuels management projects (fire protection) around park buildings and other park infrastructure and from other vegetation maintenance projects. Smoke may be visible in the surrounding area from the Parks Highway and from aircraft.
NPS Fire Management staff will be monitoring the burning on site. These pile are expected to burn for three to four days.
