This video shows how a business can apply for a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) permit through an online system.

 

Application Process

Applications are accepted November 1st- April 30th. Allow three to six weeks for applications to be processed. The operating year is January 1st- December 31st.

1. Learn how to apply using the CUA Online Application and Reporting System.
2. Gather the necessary documention.
3. Create a profile and submit application.

You will be prompted to pay the application fee (CUA fee) through the Online CUA Application System prior to submitting your application. Application fees are non-refundable. If you select the wrong permit type you will have to pay a second application fee to apply for the correct permit.

4. CUA Coordinator reviews application. Monitor your email, the park may reach out with questions.
5. Park Superintendt and CUA Coordinator approve your application, you will be notified of the approval via email.

Once your application is approved you may conduct activities as described in the permit.

Application Checklist
Prepare the following documents prior to applying.

• Certificate of Insurance
• Guide certification and vehicle list
  • At minimum, each guide is required to have first-aid, and CPR certifications. Some permits require higher levels of certification.
• Alaska Business License

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I submit guide certifications at a later date?

Yes. If you're applying prior to hiring guides for the season or staff need to renew certifications you can still submit your application. Updated certifications are due by May 1st or prior to operating. Please email documents to the CUA Office. Your application will be approved upon receipt of all required documents. 

I hold a CUA in another park, do I need to create a new profile for Denali?

No. Please use your existing profile when applying for a CUA in Denali. A new application is required for each park and for each service. 

The service I want is not listed for Denali, how can I request it?

You can contact the CUA Office to confirm that service is not offered and inquire about the process for requesting a new service. 

Can my employees access my profile in the Online System?

Yes. You can add authorized agents to the profile. Please create the main profile using an email address multiple people have access to so the profile is not lost in the event of staff turnover.
