Cumberland Island National Seashore mainland parking lot rehabilitation starting Monday, June 2, 2025.
Saint Marys, GA – Cumberland Island National Seashore will begin mainland parking lot rehabilitation starting Monday, June 2, 2025. The project is anticipated to take approximately six months to complete. Alternate parking has been coordinated with the City of St Marys, Georgia while the parking lot is closed. Please see parking map below for more details.
“This is a long overdue improvement for visitors and great example of your fee dollars at work” said Superintendent Trenchik. “We really appreciate the support of the City of St. Marys, Georgia during this work.”
"We are proud to support the National Park Service in this important infrastructure project,” said Robby Horton, City Manager of St. Marys. “Cumberland Island National Seashore is a vital part of our community's heritage and economy, and we are committed to ensuring that visitors continue to have a smooth and welcoming experience during the construction period.”
Parking lot improvements include dedicated handicap parking, permeable pavers to maintain proper drainage and level parking surface, better entrance and exit from lot, and designated parking spaces. We recommend visitors unload at the visitor center prior to parking in the alternate area on Bartlett Street.
