

Compatible treatment
of mechanical sytems in corridors
Whether corridors have a high degree of finishes
and features (above) or are relatively simple (below), the existing
historic character should be retained. In some instances (below),
it is possible to install soffits to conceal an HVAC system in a corridor so that it is compatible with the historic character.

Compatible treatment of mechanical sytems
In most instances it is preferable to locate HVAC
systems behind corridor walls in secondary spaces, whenever possible.
HVAC systems may be hidden in soffits (left) or
in a dropped ceiling in a limited area above a kitchen or bathroom
and away from windows (right) to maintain the character of the more
