All national parks, including Craters of the Moon National Monument, will waive entrance fees on 16 special days in 2016. The 16 entrance fee-free days for 2016 will be: ·January 18 –Martin Luther King, Jr. Day ·April 16-24 –National Park Week ·August 25-28 –National Park Service Birthday Weekend ·September 24 –National Public Lands Day ·November 11 –Veterans Day "We invite everyone to find their park during this special year" said Craters of the Moon National Monument Superintendent Wade Vagias. Craters of the Moon is a volcanic wonderland that is fun to explore any time of year. In winter, with adequate snowfall, the Loop Road is groomed for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Spring visitors are greeted by spectacular wildflower displays and easy access to our naturally cool lava tube caves. A variety of Ranger-guided walks, talks and special events are planned throughout 2016. Check our on-line calendar for current information. Usually, Craters of the Moon National Monument has an entrance fee of $10 per car. The entrance fee waiver does not cover camping fees. Interagency annual passes are available for purchase and a new Craters of the Moon park pass will be available this spring. Last year, Craters of the Moon National Monument had almost 250,000 visitors. Those visitors spent $7.2 million in local communities which helped to support 112 jobs. |
