Craters of the Moon is a volcanic wonderland that is fun to explore any time of year. In winter, with adequate snowfall, the Loop Road is groomed for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Spring visitors are greeted by spectacular wildflower displays and easy access to our naturally cool lava tube caves. A variety of Ranger-guided walks, talks and special events are planned throughout 2016. Check our on-line calendar for current information.
Usually, Craters of the Moon National Monument has an entrance fee of $10 per car. The entrance fee waiver does not cover camping fees. Interagency annual passes are available for purchase and a new Craters of the Moon park pass will be available this spring.
Last year, Craters of the Moon National Monument had almost 250,000 visitors. Those visitors spent $7.2 million in local communities which helped to support 112 jobs.
