The annual Christmas Bird Count will take place at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve on Tuesday, December 15. This event is co-sponsored by the Snake River Audubon Society. The Christmas Bird Count is an international effort to count wintering birds in the western hemisphere. Craters of the Moon offers a unique winter time birding experience. Participants of all experience and skill levels are welcome.

To participate meet at the Craters of the Moon visitor center at 9:00 a.m. The visitor center is located 18 miles west of Arco on U.S. Highway 20/26/93. Remember to wear boots, warm clothes and bring binoculars and a lunch. You should be prepared to spend the day outside in winter conditions. Snowshoes will be provided if conditions require.
