Art on the Rim, the 7th annual Art Show to be held at Crater Lake National Park, is scheduled for July 9thand 10that the Rim Village Community House from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days.  The artwork being featured was created by the park's recent Artists-in-Residence.  The park Artist-in-Residence program, which draws from artists across the country, was launched seven years ago. The work of Paula Fong, Matt Witt, TJ Thorne, Dan Rickards, Kit Frost, Chris Ramsay, and Susan Semenick will be on display.

The park's Artist-in-Residence program is unique among most residencies around the country in that it encourages both emerging and established artists to participate.

The model used allows artists from many different mediums to be inspired by the splendor of the park and share their work with the public. From watercolor paintings to musical composition, biological illustration, writing, and photography, artists have demonstrated creative approaches to appreciating the national park and its natural and cultural history.

The Crater Lake National Park Artist-in-Residence program exists thanks to strong collaboration and financial support from park partners such as the Friends of Crater Lake and the Crater Lake Natural History Association.    More information about the Artist-in-Residence program can be found on the Science &Learning Center web site: https://www.nps.gov/rlc/craterlake/artist-in-residence.htmApplications for the 2017 residency will be due on February 1, 2017.  Artists will have the opportunity to be in the park for a two week period in the spring from April 1 – May 15 and in the fall from September 1 through October 15, 2017.

The Crater Lake Science and Learning Center provides research and educational opportunities to promote the understanding, appreciation and stewardship of our nation's natural and cultural heritage. It is funded through an endowment from the Oregon Community Foundation made possible from the sale of the Oregon Crater Lake commemorative license plates.
