Colonial National Historical Park commemorates the breadth of the English colonial experience in North America, from the beginning in 1607 at Jamestown, to the end with the defeat of the British army by General George Washington at Yorktown in 1781. From the Colonial Parkway, visitors also see spectacular views of the area's rich natural and cultural history as they traverse through America's Historic Triangle of Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown.
