Dr. King Speaks and Shares His Dreams

Program Location: Philander Smith College
Program Venue: Nugent Auditorium, Harry R. Kendall Health and Science Center
Program Time: 1:30p to 3:00p CDT
Program in Partnership with the
National Alliance of Faith and Justice and Philander Smith College

Dr. Stephon Ferguson travels across the United States and internationally breathing life into the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His mission is to help continue the legacy of Dr. King by educating people about his philosophy of love, peace, and equality.

An American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will be onsite for the program.

 

Probing Mental Health and Wellness Equity

Program Location: University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service
Program Venue: Sturgis Hall (Choctaw Station building)
Program Time: 6:00p to 8:00p CDT
Program in Partnership with the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum

Is the state of mental health and wellness a product of systemic inequity? Historical memory reveals subjection to trauma derived from poverty, oppression, stigmatization, and barriers to care. Panelists will discuss some of the barriers and share best practices in mental health.

An American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will be onsite for the program.

Facilitator: Dr. Terrence Roberts, member of the Little Rock Nine and psychologist

Participants to include:

  • Dr. Richard Broussard, Chief Executive Officer of Reach Out Rise Up
  • Dr. Patricia Griffen, clinical psychologist
  • Mary Liuzzo Lilleboe, daughter of slain civil rights activist Viola Liuzzo and instructor for the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence
