National parks offer extraordinary experiences, but it’s not always possible to get to a park in person. Fortunately we have ways to connect with the park from a distance through digital opportunities and activities to do in your own home or neighborhood. There are enough activities to keep you occupied for days! Find suggestions on this page to engage with the park remotely.
Canal Discoveries: Take a virtual visit to the canal! Our official partner, the C&O Canal Trust, invites you to make Canal Discoveries. See modern and historic photos, read stories, hear audio, and learn about points of interest along the towpath.
Google Street View Tour: A 3D tour of 179 miles of the C&O Canal towpath is available via Google Stret View - from the DC/MD line to the Cumberland Terimus.
Junior Ranger Program: Junior Rangers help to preserve National Parks; they learn about C&O Canal National Historical Park, have fun, and are our representatives to their friends, families, and schoolmates back home.
