National parks offer extraordinary experiences, but it’s not always possible to get to a park in person. Fortunately we have ways to connect with the park from a distance through digital opportunities and activities to do in your own home or neighborhood. There are enough activities to keep you occupied for days! Find some suggestions below to engage with the park remotely.
OnCell Mobile Tour: Your personal, portable ranger awaits! Listen to canal stories from your computer or cell phone.
Canal Discoveries: Take a virtual visit to the canal! Our official partner, the C&O Canal Trust, invites you to make Canal Discoveries. See modern and historic photos, read stories, hear audio, and learn about points of interest along the towpath.
Google Street View Tour: A 3D tour of 179 miles of the C&O Canal towpath is available via Google Stret View - from the DC/MD line to the Cumberland Terimus.
Junior Ranger Program: Junior Rangers help to preserve National Parks; they learn about C&O Canal National Historical Park, have fun, and are our representatives to their friends, families, and schoolmates back home.
Social Media: Stay connected with us on social media and learn what is happening at the C&O Canal National Historical Park. We want to connect with you and keep you connected to us, by meeting you at the places you are currently at, and where you expect us to be.
