The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park encourages visitors to help preserve, protect, and enjoy the 184.5 miles of opportunities that the Park presents. While there are plenty of opportunities to experience the history and beauty of the C&O Canal, there are just as many chances to giveback!
The National Park Service turned 100 on August 25, 2016, and the entire year was quite a celebration!
In communities all along the 184.5 miles of the C&O Canal, many outside organizations work together to assist NPS in the care of this national treasure.
The C&O Canal Volunteers preserve the natural, as well as cultural resources of the Park in many different areas. Check out the current volunteer opportunities and start getting involved!
