Chickasaw National Recreation Area has six public campgrounds. Facilities vary in each and are listed in the chart below. Some individual campsites, as well as large group campsites, can be reserved in advance. Individual sites have a fire ring, picnic table and parking pads. Three campgrounds are located next to Lake of the Arbuckles. Buckhorn and The Point campgrounds have a mix of smaller sites suitable for tents and some sites with water and electric hookups that will fit RVs (up to approximately 40' in length). Guy Sandy can accomodate tents and some small RVs but no hookups are available. The three campgrounds of the Platt Historic District can accomodate tents. Only very small RVs (car sized or less) can fit in Cold Springs and Central Campgounds. No hookups are available. Rock Creek can accomodate slightly larger RVs, up to 25' in length. No hookups are available.

Sites at Chickasaw National Recreation Area under reservation system:

  • Group sites at Rock Creek, Central, and Cold Springs Campgrounds - Rates are $30.00 per night, per site
  • Buckhorn Campground, Loop C - Rates for utility sites (water and electrical only, no sewer) run from $22.00 - $24.00 per night, per site. Non-utility sites are $16.00 per night, per site.
  • The Point, Upper Loop - Rates for utility sites (water and electrical only, no sewer) run from $22.00 - $24.00 per night, per site. Non-utility sites are $16.00 per night, per site.

Reservations can be made at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

All other sites are first come, first served. Fee machines for first-come-first-serve campsites are located at the entrance to the campgrounds. These machines will accept credit cards only.

Group size

Capacity at most sites is limited to eight or fewer people. Larger groups can camp only in designated group camping sites. Group campsite capacity is limited to thirty people. Groups in excess of thirty people will need more than one group site. Group sites are only available by reservation.

Rock Creek campground features one group site, located near the campground entrance. Cold Springs Campground has two adjacent group sites near the front of the campground. Finally, all ten sites of the Central campground are group sites. Each has picnic tables, a fire ring, nearby water spigots, and parking for several vehicles.

Central and Cold Springs group campsites are open primarily during the summer season; only the Rock Creek group campsite is open year-round.

Buckhorn Campground

The Buckhorn Campground is located on the eastern side of Lake of the Arbuckles. It has four loops.

Loop A is open seasonally. It has 21 campsites including 1 accessible site; all of these sites are first come-first serve. Showers are available in the restrooms.

Loop B is open seasonally. It has 26 campsites including 1 accessible site; all sites in this loop are first come-first serve. Showers are available in the restrooms.

Loop C is open year-round. It has 43 campsites including two acessible sites. All sites are available by reservation only. Showers are available in the restrooms. There are 17 electrical sites (30 amp). Sites with electrical hookups also have water hookups. There are no sewer hook ups in the campground. A dump station can be found on Buckhorn Road outside of the campground.

Loop D is open year-round. It has 51 campsites including 3 accessible sites. All sites are first come-first serve. Showers are available in the restrooms. There are 24 electrical sites (30 amp). Sites with electrical hookup also have water hookups. There are no sewer hook ups in the campground. A dump station can be found on Buckhorn Road outside of the campground.

Guy Sandy Campground

The Guy Sandy Campground is located on the west shore of Lake of the Arbuckles and contains 40 campsites. Facilities include water faucets and pit toilets. All sites are first come-first serve.

The Point Campground

The Point Campground is located on the northern side of Lake of the Arbuckles. It is open year-round and has two loops.

The lower loop includes 9 electrical and 28 tent sites. Three sites in the lower loop are accessible (no hookups). Campsites in the lower loop are open on a first come-first serve basis. Showers are available in the restrooms.

All sites on the upper loop are available by reservation only. There are 12 electrical sites (50 and 30 amp) and 9 non-electrical camping sites, including 2 accessible sites (with hookups). Electrical sites also have water hookups. There are no sewer hookups available in the campground. A dump station can be found on the road down to the campground. Showers are available in the restrooms.

Central Campground

Central Campground is open seasonally. There are ten group sites that are available by reservation only. Non-group sites are available at nearby Cold Springs Campground.

Cold Springs Campground

Cold Springs Campground is open seasonally. It has 63 campsites and 2 group sites. The group sites are available by reservation only; all other sites are first come, first served. All sites are non-electrical and are best for tent camping, though small RVs and pop-up campers (less than 20') may fit.

The Rock Creek Campground is open year-round. It has 99 campsites and 1 group site. The group site is available by reservation only; all other sites are first come, first served. All sites are non-electrical. Some sites can accommodate small RVs (25' or less).
