Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, February 25, at 2 pm, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a special 90-minute ranger-led program exploring the ruins of the Third Women’s Army Corps Training Facility and discussing the challenges of both White and Black WAC’s. This program will begin at Tour Stop #1. The program will include a one-mile hike. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear, as there will likely be mud on the hike. Water is also recommended.

Becoming a soldier in the Women’s Army Corps was something to be very proud of during World War II. However, there were many obstacles these newly minted soldiers had to overcome while serving. Some of the obstacles these women faced had everything to do with the color of their skin. Yet, they persevered and their persistence shaped today’s military.
