Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, April 30, at 8 pm, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will feature a classic movie at the South Post Theatre. During World War II, this theatre was where newly recruited WAC soldiers watched the latest feature films, news reels from the war front, and propaganda shorts, reminding them of why they chose to serve their country. Today, all that is left of the theatre is the concrete pad on which it stood. The WACs called South Post home for several weeks as they trained to replace male soldiers, freeing them to deploy oversees and help bring the war to a close. Join us as we fill the air once again with the sounds from a movie which last showed in this theatre 79 years ago, in 1943. The movie is scheduled to begin at 8:15 pm.
If there is inclement weather, the movie will be re-scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
