Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Sunday, June 2, at 2 pm, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will conduct a special 45-minute presentation, focusing on Union General William Rosecrans, at Chickamauga Battlefield. This talk begins inside the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and will car caravan to a location on the battlefield.
A correspondent once noted that General Rosecrans’ “ingenuity left everywhere its traces in new inventions.” The US Army of the Cumberland’s commander was a man who went beyond traditional thinking of the time by embracing new weapons, tactics, and technology. It is what we refer to as “thinking outside of the box.” Join a park ranger to learn about some of the ways Rosecrans left an impact on his army and how it impacted his Campaign for Chattanooga.
Visitors should bring a bottle of water and a folding chair since the program will be primarily stationary.
