Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, October 30, at 2 pm, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a 90-minute program dealing with the most asked question by visitors when visiting Chickamauga Battlefield. This program will begin at the visitor center, then car caravan onto the battlefield to explore answers to this question.

After the Battle of Chickamauga, the ground was covered with the dead from both armies. Usually, a battle’s victor takes on the responsibility of burying the dead, but there was little time to do so with another battle looming soon at Chattanooga. Partially buried corpses laid on the ground for weeks and months. So, who picked up all the bodies scattered throughout the fields and forests of Chickamauga Battlefield? This task was monumental and horrible to say the least. Come and join us as we seek answers to this most asked question at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.

Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and supportive shoes. Chairs, water, and bug repellant are also recommended.
