Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, May 6, at 2 pm, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a special 1-hour ranger-led talk examining the long-forgotten connections between Georgia’s Antebellum capital city of Milledgeville and Chattanooga’s earliest years. This program will be held at 201 Riverfront Parkway, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37402.
How did money from Middle Georgia spearhead Chattanooga’s settlement and development? When news of the Tennessee River, the abundance of natural resources, and a budding iron industry reached Central Georgia, the race to Chattanooga was on. Join us as we introduce and discuss the men associated with this spearhead, as well as the connections they made here in Chattanooga.
