Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, March 31, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will conduct artillery programs at Point Park on Lookout Mountain.  Demonstrations, each lasting approximately 30 minutes, are scheduled at10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. Admission to Point Park is $7 per adult, ages 16 and over, youth, ages 15 and under, are free.

In October 1863, the men of Parker’s Virginia Battery were encamped inside what is now Point Park on Lookout Mountain. Throughout the month, they traded fire with Union batteries on Moccasin Bend, observed the Battle of Wauhatchie in Lookout Valley, and all the while looked to the mountains visible to the north and east, hopeful that maybe just one of those peaks was from back home in Virginia. Join us for our first artillery programs in 2018 as we explore the experiences of these Virginians who lived and fought here in the fall of 1863.
